Our Story

Paperflower Puzzles was formed by Deborah Waltman, collage artist and avid jigsaw puzzler based in Georgetown, Ontario, Canada.

Deborah has always been a puzzler, but like many, immersed herself in the hobby to fill the unprecedented times of 2020. There was always a puzzle on the dining room table and one (or more) out for delivery. And the more she puzzled, the more she realized that not all puzzle brands are built the same; the perfect puzzle for her is bright, colourful, and busy, with sturdy, matte-finish pieces in a variety of piece shapes...no two-by-twos allowed!

Feeling like she had exhausted all the brands that satisfied her requirements, she started making art specifically with puzzles in mind, particularly collage puzzles which are her favourite. After building a puzzle-specific portfolio and getting feedback from the amazing jigsaw puzzle community, she took the leap to turn her puzzle designs into reality, launching a successful Kickstarter campaign in early 2026 to fund the first run of puzzles and build the foundation to add more to the collection.

Making art and jigsaw puzzling are just two ways that we as humans can unplug, slow down, and feed our joy. Paperflower Puzzles was built on these principles. Thank you for joining us on our journey to make the world a bit more colourful, piece by piece!
